As the latest evolution in its popular bowl line, fast casual Mediterranean concept Luna Grill announced the rollout of the new “Beyond Meat Coastal Med Bowl” across all locations in California and Texas. Priced at $9.95, the bowl features a bounty of complementary ingredients, including Beyond Meat’s seasoned Beyond Beef, basmati rice, torshi, Greek cabbage, tomato and cucumber medley and pickled onions drizzled with tzatziki and Mediterranean Pesto.
Beyond Beef is 100% plant-based ground meat designed to deliver the delicious taste and texture of beef, but is made using simple plant-based ingredients without GMOs, soy, gluten or artificially produced ingredients. An easy substitution of tahini for the tzatziki creates a completely vegan dish as well for guests seeking that option.
The new Coastal Med Bowl is Luna’s first bowl to feature Beyond Meat products and offers diners an impressive 24 grams of completely plant-based protein.
This is Luna Grill’s second menu item featuring a Beyond Meat protein — following the addition of the Beyond Burger in 2018 and receiving positive customer feedback, prompting the company to look at new ways to incorporate this popular plant-based protein into its menu.
“Demand for plant-based meat continues to rise and the Coastal Med Bowl gives guests a better way to bowl — delicious, sustainable and nutritious,” says Morgan Rogers, Director of Marketing at Luna Grill. “Our goal as a company is to inspire good food choices, and this new bowl is a perfect complement to our existing Mediterranean offerings,” she added.
Earlier this year Luna Grill introduced The Santorini Bowl, filled with rice, kale, Greek cabbage, couscous, tzatziki, hummus, pickled onions and olives, drizzled with Mediterranean Pesto and topped with either grilled chicken or falafel for a vegetarian option. Other bowl line items include a Better Beet Bowl and the El Greco Bowl — both of which were initially introduced as Limited Time Offers (LTOs) but were added to the permanent menu based on demand. “Bowl items have proven to be extremely popular with our guests across all markets — bringing a Beyond Meat Bowl into the mix fits well into our menu platform as we always strive to offer products that are non-GMO, sustainable, no artificial preservatives or color additives — we try our best to keep our food clean and delicious,” Rogers said.
