General Manager

Position Summary

Fast growing restaurant concept located in San Diego is looking for a highly motivated, passionate and enthusiastic General Managers to join our dynamic team.

The General Manager is responsible for inspiring and developing their team, ensuring excellent guest service, and upholding Luna Grill’s High Standards. This position is responsible for providing team leadership and focusing on restaurant level operational, financial and personnel performance. This includes monitoring business results of each restaurant, team member development and documentation, training tool utilization, quality assurance, guest relations, inventory management, safety, security and being the central driving force for realizing and implementing operational improvements and changes.

 

Essential Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP & TEAM DEVELOPMENT

Builds a team of top performers by coaching and developing future leaders; by providing clear, consistent direction, clear performance feedback and recognizing individual and team contributions.

Ensures that all team members are properly trained, and coaching, counseling, and performance feedback is provided on a regular and timely basis.

Makes personnel decisions regarding transfers, promotions, terminations and other employment decisions and obtains approval as necessary.

Ensures that team members are paid properly and receive appropriate benefits.

Provides clear direction and ensures that team members are kept abreast of Luna Grill company communications, policy changes, etc.

Maintains courteous, professional and effective working relationships with team members at all levels of the organization.

Listens to team member suggestions for improving how work is done and guests are served. Gains management support as needed to act upon suggestions.

Knowledgeable of policies regarding personnel and administers prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.

Ensures all team members understand their roles & responsibilities and how they can contribute to the restaurant.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Manages day-to-day operations and oversees restaurant management and budget compliance.

Ensures that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the company’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.

Ensures that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times.

Works with District Manager, Training, and Human Resources Department to ensure adequate staffing and training needs.

Processes operations, human resource, workers’ compensation, and payroll related paperwork in a timely and efficient manner.

Develops schedules that ensures that the restaurant is properly staffed all day/evening parts and sales volumes while maintaining the ability to provide excellent guest service.

Manages team member breaks, shift changes, shift meetings, and line schedules.

Ensures that safety and security standards are adhered to and that team members are properly trained in current position and knowledgeable of the company’s Safety Plan and Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

Manages daily and weekly cleaning of the line, dining room, restroom, and patio.

Resolves guest incidents and works to ensure a positive guest experience.

Ensures that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurants preventative maintenance programs.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Controls and manages turnover and communicates areas of concern to the District Manager.

Completes and processes reports such as the daily line up report, inventory, Micros/Workforce payroll reports, Sysco orders, bank deposits, ROTR, daily sales sheet, P&L Report and prep checklist.

Builds sales and manages restaurant budget including cost control of related labor and cost of goods sold.

Controls proper inventory and purchases materials through approved vendors in a timely manner and in accordance with company policy.

Controls cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with company policy and procedures.

Completes bank deposit forms and related paperwork, enters deposit information into Compeat and takes the deposit to the bank on a daily basis.

Identifies maintenance issues and establishes/implements protocols of when outside service is required or if maintenance can be completed by in-house staff.

Ensures that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the company’s receiving standards.

Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred – must be able to communicate (speak, read, write) in the primary language of the work location.

 

Education/Experience Required

Must have a minimum of  two (2) years restaurant experience (knowledge of both the BOH and FOH is strongly preferred)

Luna Grill experience is ideal.

One (1) Year Supervisory/Management Experience strongly preferred.

High School Diploma required

AA Degree preferred

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Frequent standing/walking, sitting, bending, bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat, use hands, reaching or grasping with hands and arms, and be able to lift up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

Must be able to work under pressure and be flexible to work long hours, irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Must comply with Company’s Appearance and Dress Code standard as set forth in the Team Member Handbook.

Works primarily indoors in temperature-controlled, clean, and well-lighted environment.

Makes frequent trips to kitchen, where air may be moist, warm, and odorous from cooking foods.

Kitchen floors are uneven and may be slippery from moisture and grease.
